Pook Puppet Theater is the oldest contemporary puppet theater in Japan, established in 1929. It has contributed to the establishment and development of contemporary puppet theater and has created numerous expressive techniques. In addition to performances throughout Japan, the theater has been actively involved in international exchanges since the establishment of the UNIMA Japan branch in 1958, including co-productions, invitation performances, and participation in overseas festivals.

In 1971, the theater opened the Pook Puppet Theater as Japan's first permanent puppet theater, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2021.
